Activity 3: An Electronic Collage

Follow the link to Special Topics & Special Publications. Under African American History Internship Project, click on African American Churches in Tucson. A page of text will display. Count down to the 6th paragraph, beginning, "Though the church ..." Read the 6th, 7th and 8th paragraphs and, as you do, list below the purposes churches have served in the African American community. This list will be the basis for your Electronic Collage.

What graphics could symbolize or represent these purposes? For example, a graduation cap could represent the education churches provided. A photograph of Malcolm X could represent the opportunities that churches provided for leaders and orators. Brainstorm and list some ideas below.
