CHAPTER IV:
"THE VALUE OF PERSONALITY"

"If you have anything really valuable to contribute to the world it will come through the expression of your own personality, that single spark of divinity that sets you off and makes you different from every other living creature."

- BRUCE BARTON

Everything related to your individual relationships, social influence, attractions to your hidden talents is called: PERSONALITY.

Is your personality bankrupt? If your actions and reactions are determined by the wishes and expectations of others, then you have a bankrupt personality.

Self-confidence and Self-reliance grow only from a self-controlled personality, and this means that the personality trusts in itself. You should know what it is that you desire and expect from others; only this way you can portray in the mind of other people the trust and knowledge and expertise of your business. Only in this manner you could graciously reach the end of your efforts and fulfill your goals and you also could trust your spontaneous attitude. Only the coward and weak abandons his objectives and goals. A small amount of courage that is managed and administered will become a mountain of self-confidence in your interior sanctuary.

The "I can't do it" -- does not accomplish anything.

The "I will try" -- accomplishes some, but,

The "I can" -- accomplishes miracles.

If you are one of the individuals predisposed to make up excuses such as: "That is all right for other people, but not for me," then, you need a drastic and urgent change in your personality. The philosopher William James said: "The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind." This has been proven again and again.

William Ross a famous man stated: "All persons, through personal reasoning are able to develop an attitude towards life which will give them a sense of existence, a purpose in living and self-confidence in their own inner strength to make a better life for themselves."

The importance of an appropriate attitude towards life, undoubtedly was correctly described by James Allen in his work: "As a Man Thinketh." This work deserves to be read by everybody, allow me to repeat what he skillfully wrote: "All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts. In a justly ordered universe, where loss of equipoise would mean total destruction, individual responsibility must be absolute. A man's weakness and strength, purity and impurity, are his own, and not another man's. They are brought about by himself, and not by another; and they can only be altered by himself, never by another. His condition is also his own, and not another man's. His suffering and his happiness are evolved from within. As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains."

Inside the human mind lies the ability to promote self-confidence and self reliance with the purpose of developing a sound personality. Aldous Huxley wrote: "There's only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self. So you have to begin there, not outside, not on other people. That comes afterwards, when you have worked on your own corner."

Consequently, if your personality is bankrupt, release your frozen capital and assets and put them to work. You will be surprised of your magnificent results. Self-respect and self-confidence will attract the respect of each and every person that comes in contact with you.

Always be POSITIVE, think positively, act positively.

WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS LIFE?

In which way have you improved your personality during the last year?

ARE YOU ABLE TO MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS?

Do you know what you want and do you trust yourself in obtaining it?

IS YOUR PERSONALITY SOLVENT?

The relationships with your co-workers, are they pleasant or unpleasant? Is it partially your own fault?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF CHANGES IN YOUR MENTAL ATTITUDE?

Do you keep yourself active in some program of mental self-improvement?
