About this Website Mission Churches of the Sonoran Desert first became available in November 1994. As such is the first website developed for what is now Through Our Parents' Eyes: History & Culture of Southern Arizona. In 1994, Dr. Griffith was working as Director of the UA Library's Southwest Folklore Center and held an appointment in the UA Department of English where he taught English. Dr. Griffith retired in 1994 but continues to research and publish books and articles as well as remaining active in the community. The banner image at the top of each page was created by Andrew Bareham, a student assistant in the UA Learning Technologies Center, in April 2005, for the website's interface redesign.
