Juana Matayaqui

Juana Matayaqui was a church kantoora, or lady singer. She was also known as Tu'isi yeyenan, or "one who used to smoke a lot." She lived with her husband, José Maria Puchiyename, below, on Calle Matus in Pascua.

José Maria Puchiyename

José Maria Puchiyename was the husband of Juana Matayaqui (above). The name Puchiyename means "one who smokes and blows it out right away without inhaling into the lungs." He was a matachin laveleo, (a matachini violinist) and played for the matachini dancers.
