A History

Overview of Binghampton, circa 1904

Welcome to Images of Binghampton: A History.  Binghampton was a  thriving Mormon farm village settled by the Bingham family around 1900. This community covering a significant amount of land now known as Tucson, Arizona.  Today we would recognize the area bounded by Country Club and Swan roads to the west and east, Fort Lowell to the south, and  land just north of the Rillito River.  The family of Boyd and Jeanette Done remember what it was like in Binghampton.  They reflect:

" As natives of Tucson and lifetime residents of this city, it is exciting to be part of a website that will make Tucsonans aware of part of their city that they may not have known about before.  We were both born and raised in the little community known as Binghampton.  The geographical center of this community was Ft. Lowell and Alvernon, then known as Maple.  It was a unique and special experience, one that many who experienced childhood in a community such as this one will never forget.  We are appreciative of the efforts of many to create this website and hope that it can enrich the lives of many people who take time to browse.  In a day when many people are searching for their ancestors, it makes us all the more aware how special the opportunity we had in enjoying life in this community was.  We express appreciation to those who have worked diligently to bring this to fruition.
