Demonstrators Arrested

Activists like Baldenegro and Lespron were labeled "radicals" by the
city officials and local media. This front page picture (and the text
below) was published in the Tucson Citizen on September 4, 1969. Salomon Baldenegro (left) and Jorge F. Lespron talk over charges of
trespassing leveled by police against them and three others for entering
El Rio Golf Course yesterday without paying greens fees. Both were
members of the El Rio Coalition Front llast week when the group met with
city officials to work out a plan for a West Side park. A spokesman for
the Coalition Front today disclaimed any endorsement of the weekend
demonstrations.
