Jack Van Ryder's original illustrations, reproduced in the 1963 version, were scanned and edited for inclusion in this Web version.

The author, Jack Weadock, renewed copyright for the book in 1963. It appears here with the permission of Weadock's daughter Virginia Weadock Barleycorn.

Jack Weadock was born in 1925 and died in 1971. He served in the U. S. Army cavalry and worked for the Arizona Daily Star from 1923 to 1969. His original typescript and revision, printer's copy, and galley proofs are housed in the UA Library's Special Collections. Dust of the Desert is a collection of Weadock's weekly columns relating incidents of Arizona history.
