E. P. Smith homes. These homes were built in 1904 and supplied with water from
Louise's well until 1909. The two-story Smith Home at 1195 East Speedway and
Cannon home (later and for many years the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. E. Douglass) are
still standing (1990) and owned by George, Jr. who is donating them to the University
for their historic importance. I remember the Cannon/Douglass home when it was
Hester Hunter's Bookstore. (On a field trip from University Heights Elementary School
1938, I bought the newly-published book, Mary Poppins.) In May 1990, a deep hole was
dug behind these homes for the construction of a new building for the College of
Business and Public Administration. TKM

the account books, water was sold by the gallon, or the price was for a full tank. See
