First Street and Tyndall Neighborhood, 1923

Peters family
The one bedroom duplex 939 and 941 North Tyndall, was built in 1923 between the houses
at 935 and 943 (page 44). My grandmother and her sisters rented it for the the winter of
1927, when this picture was taken. From left: Ivan Peters, Anna Croxen, her sisters Isabell
Black and Alice Moore, and children Wilma Peters and Fred Croxen. Fred had come to
Arizona in 1909 and became a Forest Ranger in the Flagstaff area. In 1916 he married
Edith Lamport of Flagstaff. She was the teacher in the one room Sedona School, 1914-16. ELC

On the corner of First and Park, five mission-revival style duplexes were built in 1926.
This 1930 picture shows the comer and one of the two fraternity houses that were to the
right up Park Avenue. In 1990 a Carl's Jr. occupies this corner.
Home on Tyndall
847-849 East First was purchased in November, 1989, for $72,000 by the nearby
Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. This picture was taken in September 1990. The foreground
creosote bush is in the yard and beside the house on Tyndall that Tom Marshall
photographed in 1905 during construction. PPS
