Widowed in 1915, Jesus would increase the availability of that most critical and crucial element of desert survival, water. Adding to the water rights acquired from her late husband, Jesus filed a claim for another water source, to wit:
This LOCATION OF WATER FOR BENEFICIAL USES was filed by Jesus M. Soza, widow of Antonio C. Soza, on February 23, 1917, and posted on the ground the appropriate notice.121
The water rights would later be conveyed with the conveyance of the her ranch property to the subsequent owners.122
